Cohen Milstein aides in representing eight Columbian banana workers who are suing Chiquita Brands International for funding, arming and otherwise supporting terrorist organizations in Columbia from the 1990s through 2004. The Plaintiffs in this case were targeted and some killed by a notably violent paramilitary organization the United Self-Defense Committees of Columbia (Autodefensorias Unidas de Colombia) otherwise known as AUC. Chiquita funded the AUC along with other terrorist organizations to maintain the operations of banana production and cease all social disturbances and opposition from the banana workers and unions.
In April 2008 this class action suit became part of a mulitdistrict litigation suit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
